This
bio-photo of Melaleuca quinquenervia in bloom is by ace bio-photographer Kerry Dressler, reproduced from stock photgraphy images available on her CD Southern
Aquatic Plants. Also commonly named Punk Tree, Melaleuca is a member of the Myrtle family as well as a Category 1 Exotic Pest Plant in Florida. It was reputedly sown throughout Florida wetlands by railroad men as part of a plan to soak up the water of the everglades ecosystem for further development. |
