The petting zoo was once home to a menagerie of imported livestock and water fowl. 

Sands of time have filled in the duck pond, and there are no plans in the new scheme of the garden to restore the animal cages and maintain animals in captivity.

The Petting Zoo barn though, including its whimsical wall paintings which in the 1960's were reproduced in the spirit of artist Peter Hunt, will be restored,  probably for tool storage.
